Single Molecules @ Sheffield

What's SM@SH?

SM@SH is a collection of researchers at the University of Sheffield trying to understand life, one molecule at a time.

Single molecule approaches allow us to track the behaviour of individual molecules, giving insights into the dynamics of living systems that are lost when average characteristics are measured. We have a whole galaxy of techniques we use to explore this frontier of biology; from single molecule fluorescence based techniques (for localisation microscopy, particle tracking, and smFRET) through to atomic force microscopy, optical tweezers and mass photometry. SM@SH is where we get together to exchange ideas and expertise in these complementary techniques.

We wish to build a supportive and collaborative environment across the University, so please come and join us! The website will expand over the coming weeks with more information, so check back for member profiles, useful info and news items in the near future.
